Whether sitting, walking or standing – our aids accompany and support you in everyday life. They help you get out to meet your friends and promote your development and health. Every aid can be individually adapted to your body.

Guide

In the guide and the FAQs, you will find all the important information and answers about us and our aids.

In Germany, aids for children and young people with disabilities are funded by different funding bodies, depending on the type of device and its purpose.

The main funding bodies are:

  • Statutory health insurance: Covers medically necessary aids that compensate for a disability or support medical treatment.
  • Long-term care insurance: Funds certain care aids if a care level has been assessed and the aids facilitate home care or promote independence.
  • Integration assistance: May cover aids that serve the purposes of social participation, education or communication and are not primarily funded by other funding bodies.

That depends on who owns the aid and how it was funded.

Aids provided by health insurance

Many aids paid for by statutory health insurance remain the property of the health insurance fund or a contracted partner (e.g. a medical supplies shop). If these aids are no longer required, they must usually be returned. They are then inspected, reconditioned and, where appropriate, reissued to other insured persons.

Aids owned by the user

Some aids become the property of the child or the family, such as those that are individually fitted or cannot be reused for hygiene reasons. These do not normally need to be returned.

Aids provided under integration support

In the case of integration support services, it depends on the specific decision and the type of aid. Some aids are provided on a permanent basis, whilst others remain the property of the service provider and must be returned once they are no longer needed.
